2000 - Big success.
World record for the most expensive book published in the 20th century: Helmut Newton's SUMO copy #1, autographed by over 80 celebrities featured in it, goes for US$ 304.000 at a charity auction in Berlin in April 2000, giving Helmut Newton, Benedikt Taschen & auctioneer Simon de Pury cause to celebrate.

TASCHEN could have used the cash to pay for a big party, but they decided it would be better spent helping troubled children lead safe & healthy lives, so the entire sum is donated to charity.

In September Paris TASCHEN Store, located in the heart of St. Germain, opened its doors to the public. Designed by Philippe Starck, the shop made a big splash with the public & in the press.

Modernism Lovers rejoice when Neutra Complete Works is published.

Old Europe in Beverly Hills – there goes the neighborhood.
On November 18th, the Beverly Hills TASCHEN Store opens its doors. TASCHEN darling Philippe Starck designed the stunning interior, whose glossy walnut, cast bronze, purple mirrors, golden leather, & one-of-a-kind handmade glass walls set the shop apart from any other bookstore in history. Albert Oehlen created 20 computer-generated collages for the walls and ceiling, inspired by the wide selection of TASCHEN books. On opening night TASCHEN authors, photographers & artists are met by an enthusiastic crowd. Among the usual suspects in attendance are hordes of celebrities.

2005 -
25th Anniversary
The year 2005 marks 25 wonderful years in business for TASCHEN & is plenty of cause to celebrate. Dozens of perennial TASCHEN favorites are reborn as special anniversary edition titles for very special anniversary prices & judging by the phenomenal sales, Taschen's fans around the world were happy to celebrate with Taschen. The anniversary editions being Taschen's way of saying "thanks" to its readers, Taschen decides to give its employees & friends a HUGE thank you with a slamming weekend at the Parco dei Principi hotel in Sorrento, Italy, where over 200 TASCHENites from across the globe come together for three days of festivities in a breathtaking setting. Missing from the fun is TASCHEN's dear, departed friend & colleague, Gilles Néret, who passed away in August. Longtime art book editor extraordinaire & the author of many of TASCHEN's bestsellers, Gilles is sorely missed.

TASCHEN's 25th year sees the publication of many exciting new titles, including The Stanley Kubrick Archives, made in cooperation with Kubrick's widow, Christiane, & his longtime producer, Jan Harlan. Over a period of two years, editor Alison Castle mined the director's previously unseen archives for material, resulting in the first book ever to reveal Kubrick's creative process. Also, TASCHEN resurrects William Claxton's long out-of-print Jazzlife with a new & improved reprint of the phenomenal book originally produced by Claxton & musicologist Joachim Berendt in 1960. Documenting jazz throughout America in words & images, the XL format Jazzlife is also available in special limited collector's edition...
